I also think that Len Weisman (underworld, Live Free Die Hard) with his background in sci-fi films (Stargate, Independance Day, Men In Black and Godzilla) could be a good fit.

I'm not saying that Jones is a bad director in anyway, but you rejects are known for your love of Moon, and just seem to reference it whenever its possible.

I can see why you wanted Kathryn Bigelow as the director of a fictional story with out of this world characters that bear no resemblence to real people.

I could be wrong, but didn't David Lynch only take his name off of the TV extended reedit? That one says Alan Smithee dir., but I think the theatrical release/DVD/blu still says dir. David Lynch.

I really liked Lynch's Dune, but if they have to make a new one they should go back to Jodorowsky, because it looked like one of the most wicked films that never got made.

It's hard for me to go past Ridley Scott, if he's interested that is. If not, then I'd give Neill Blomkamp a crack at it.

I can see why you wanted Kathryn Bigelow as the director of a fictional story with out of this world characters that bear no resemblence to real people. After all she did direct the Hurt Locker, which was also a film that bore no resemblence to actual real life.

This may be true in the event of Peter Jackson, but there is still a huge difference between these two directors. Peter Jackson had 6 films under his belt before tackling LoTR, while this would be Jones' second attempt. For every spielberg (made Jaws for cheap, then got to create Close Encounters on a larger budget), theres a road of directors who were given much larger budgets and arguably turned in big pieces of, well you know.

I'm not saying that Jones is a bad director in anyway, but you rejects are known for your love of Moon, and just seem to reference it whenever its possible.

I'd like to see Frank Darabont (The Mist, The Fly II, The Blob) tackle this sci-fi classic. I also think that Len Weisman (underworld, Live Free Die Hard) with his background in sci-fi films (Stargate, Independance Day, Men In Black and Godzilla) could be a good fit. Zack Snyder (Dawn Of The Dead,300,Watchmen)is amazing. He is more of a comics guy but I would like to see his vision.
