Some awesome choices here, though some (Godfather, Ben-Hur) are revenge flicks just cause that's usually the nature of action flicks. What? No 'The Horseman'? I realize it likely doesn't have US distribution sewn up and no one's seen it (let alone heard of it) but this little Aussie gem makes most of these movies like like Saturday morning cartoons!!!!

well i came on your site to see which movies were the top revenge movies of all time and i must say you have left out one of the best ones. to my opinion i feel that THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO should be on your list.
The guy gets thrown into prison because his so called best friend was jealous of his life and most of all wanted his woman. So he betrays his trust and shows a letter he was delivering for Napolean, but the main character cannot read, so as far as he was concerned he was doing nothing wrong. well anyway, so he goes to prison where he meets Richard Harrises character who has been digging for some time to escape and he comes accross our main character who just attempted suicide. Harrises character teaches him everything from reading to writing to math and everything else their is to learn including on how to fight. To make the long story short he escapes prison and goes on search for a treasure that he got the map from Harrises character. with the money he turns himself into the count of monte cristo, who seeks his old friend and his old fiance where he plans to take away his wealth, his woman, his son, everything. and he does it all with charm and smarts.
If you haven’t seen the movie, it is well worth the time. thanks for reading my thoughts.

The Law Abiding Citizen is a great movie, with great cast, leavig us to think about justice and how far one may go if system failed.well done.Bravo,Gerry.

but what about thriller: a cruel picture? it may be one of the very first revenge movies, and it was completely banned in sweden and america until 20 min. of film was cut out of it. its amazing, if you can find it.

Oldboy is a good one. Some viewers may be put off by the fact that it is a Korean film with subtitles only, but it is still a very good film.
