post-desperatedvd.jpgJust in time for those of you dying to catch up on the suburban drama of your favorite women from Wisteria Lane, Buena Vista Home Entertainment has released a special edition of the third season of the 2007 Emmy nominated show Desperate Housewives. The latest edition to the DH DVD collection is titled Desperate Housewives: The Complete Third Season, The Dirty Laundry Edition. With insider bonus features, the complete third season is perfect for viewers looking to complete their collection.

The Dirty Laundry Edition includes all 23 one-hour season three episodes, along with an extensive selection of bonus features” including “On Set With Eva,” an in-depth look at the behind-the-scenes impact of the show’s newest leading lady, Eva Longoria, who joins the cast as the petite but power-packed vixen Gabrielle Solis. This featurette includes interviews with the cast (“She’s just really fun—it’s those people who come onto the set and brighten it up and move everything along.”, Felicity Huffman) and crew as well as comments from Desperate Housewives Creator and Executive Producer Mark Cherry (“This is her first big taste of success… and every day she has a blast.”) about Longoria, who has become what Cherry describes as “the show mascot.” Other bonus features include “Here Comes the Bride,” which dishes details on the season’s three—yes, count ‘em, three—weddings, creative visual metaphors for the personality of and love lessons learned by each of the three brides.

“Amas de Casa Desesperades” features a brief look at the recently released Spanish language version of Desperate Housewives, as well as footage of creator Mark Cherry’s initial reaction to this alternate version’s casting and storyline choices. Even more behind-the-scenes dirt is revealed in “Desperate Moments: A reflection on a season,” when actors and actresses discuss secrets, lawsuits, weddings, car crashes, last minute scene changes, new characters and yes, even the increasingly difficult game of “hide the belly” played by producers as pregnant actress Marcia Cross’ stomach grew seemingly exponentially with each passing week.

The ladies of Wisteria Lane give us even more sex, lies and videotape… or should we say cinematic film? …with numerous deleted scenes only included on The Dirty Laundry Edition. Combined with “Cherry Picked: Creator Mark Cherry’s Favorite Scenes,” and a side-splitting blooper reel (apparently Desperate Housewives is actually a comedy—you just can’t tell because the producers cut out all of the laughter and tacked it onto the DVD under the innocuous title of “Bloopers”), this DVD set gives DH fans an unprecedented look at their favorite television show well worth the $59.99 price tag.

With a running time of 993 minutes, The Dirty Laundry Edition will keep Desperate Housewives fans plenty busy until the show’s season four premiere, set to air on ABC on Sunday, September 30 at 9:00 pm EST. Desperate Housewives: The Complete Third Season, The Dirty Laundry Edition is now available in retail stores.
