Win The Rat Pack Ultimate Edition DVD Set!
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on May 21, 2008

I suppose I will just come right out and say it — we’ve got mad love for The Rat Pack. There was no more popular group of hip dudes than Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop back in the 50s and 60s. When it came to Vegas, these guys were what was happening. And when it came to movies, they were pretty good as well.
And to celebrate their cool collective persona, Warner Home Video has decided to release The Rat Pack Ultimate Collector’s Edition. They have also decided to funnel five (5) free copies through us and on to some of our beloved readers. That’s right, we’ve got a hoppin’ giveaway, right out of the 1950s and into your DVD player. Now, in order to win this thing you’ve got to be a subscriber of our daily email updates. If you need to sign up, please use the form below:
If you are already subscribed, no worries — we count you, as well, as long as you come through with part two, which is to name your favorite member of the Rat Pack in the Sound Off section below. Sorry folks, but in order to win this prize you are going to have to choose between Dino and Frank. It’s harsh, but its life. As well, if you would like to leave a little explanation of your choice, we won’t argue.
Winners will be chosen on Friday June 30th and contacted via email, so enter soon! For more on the DVD set, here is a quick synopsis from the studio: “Frank and his boys get the high-end treatment with The Rat Pack Ultimate Collector’s Edition containing Robin and the Seven Hoods, Ocean’s Eleven, 4 For Texas and the first ever home video release of MGM’s Sergeants 3.”

Cool contest! There is no greater Rat Packer than Dino. He’s got my vote!
May 21st, 2008 at 8:16 am
None can do it better than the Candyman himself-good ole Sammy D!
May 21st, 2008 at 10:02 am
It is a tough choice, but Blue Eyes is the lynch pin that held that group together. Comparing output, it is an easier choice as Frank is dominate in film and music and it was his presence in both areas that helped raise the Rat Pack to be more than the sum of their individual parts.

I love them all, but you can’t get much cooler than Frank. The Chairman of the Board ROCKS!
May 21st, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Where I am from it has to be Dean Martin hands down. He frequented Wheeling, West Virginia, and I can even tell you Dean’s favorite type of pizza (DiCarlos). My mom’s uncle owned a pizza joint that he would frequent when in town, true Italian pizza with thin crust. Dean attitude and class defined the Rat Pack.
May 21st, 2008 at 2:44 pm
This would be a great win!!!!!!
May 21st, 2008 at 2:50 pm
A tough one to choose — but I’m going with Dean Martin!
May 21st, 2008 at 3:37 pm
It’s a very tough decision, and each of them had their own style and larger-than-life personalities. So since I have to choose one, I’m going with the one-and-only Mr. Old Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra.

Frank could do it all. His performance in The Man with A Golden Arm was so realistic it was banned in several places.
May 21st, 2008 at 9:22 pm
My favorite is Joey Bishop, because he was such a nice guy. I wrote him a letter one time to let him know how much I appreciated him, and he called me on the phone! He wanted to know if there was anything he could do for me. There wasn’t, so he sent me an autographed photo. I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for him.
