Win a Copy of ‘Young at Heart’ on DVD!

Posted by Kevin Carr (kevin@filmschoolrejects.com) on September 15, 2008

How old is too old to rock out? For the subjects of the documentary Young@Heart, they are never too old. The Young@Heart Chorus is comprised of two dozen convention-defying senior citizens from Northampton, MA who keep their neurons firing and emotions kindled with good-natured humor and dynamic performances covering material ranging from The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” to Coldplay’s “Fix You.” The documentary follows the group over a seven-week rehearsal schedule as they rigorously practice such aptly named modern classics as The Ramones’ “I Want To Be Sedated” and Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” in preparation for a one-night only, sold-out concert.

Three (3) lucky winners will each rock out with a copy of Young@Heart, which hits the streets on September 16. All you have to do is be a subscriber to our daily email updates, powered by Feedburner. the oldest rocker i know is a distant cousin of mine...who is the brother of Milton Brown (the guy who developed the electric guitar)

this cousin is about 95, and still plays most stringed instruments
  • Nicole C
Oldest rocker I know would have to be my grandpa. He's really into music and staying hip
(for lack of a better word) about rock and all, plus he's the sweetest guy.
  • Harold
My chemistry professor from my previous quarter at school is probably in his 60s or
pushing 70 maybe. I figure he's probably old because his teaching method of slow
and painstaking, and he refuses to teach by our textbook. Anyway, on the last day
of lecture last quarter, he brought out his electric guitar and started jamming out
some Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Hendrix. Apparently, in some of his later courses, he
brings his guitar in to demonstrate sound waves and what not. He'd be a lot more
awesome if he wasn't such a prick about teaching, but he's a pretty solid rocker.
  • Danny Davis
The Rolling Stones rock because they are real life cartoons and senior citizens and still rock.
  • Julie
I'd have to say Neil Young. He's still going as strong as ever.
  • Oldest rocker I know is easily my grandfather. He's 91 years old, still works the family farm, and most importantly, has a pig valve in his heart. Which officially makes him a chimera.

    Which totally rawks!
  • Margaret Smith
The oldest rocker a know is my best friends parents, who are in their late 50's early 60's. They still go to concerts, wear tshirts with rock band names and play rock all the time.
  • Jen
My grandmother was the oldest rocker I knew. She was nearing 80 before she passed and she was never afraid to pull out a little air guitar, to my air drums. I miss her a lot.

Burton Cummings of the Guess Who. I love the songs of the Guess Who. When Burton sang "These Eyes" it tore me up inside. Those were the days!
