Devil May Care Giveaway

In honor of this being Secret Agent Week, we have wrangled up some cool stuff to give away to you. For those who didn’t already see it, we already posted a slick Get Smart giveaway and we would like to add to the fun by offering up three (3) copies of the brand new James Bond novel “Devil May Care”, written by Sebastian Faulks as Ian Fleming. From what I’ve heard, it is a pretty damn solid book. I mean, it is James Bond — how bad could it really be, right?

In order to enter, all you have to do is follow the standard drill. Step one is to be a subscriber to our daily email updates, powered by Feedburner. It is the one daily email to rule them all — all the best of the Rejects right in your inbox. No spam, no selling of your information, just the best movie news from all of the best writers on the web, every single day. If you aren’t already a subscriber, you can do so via the form below:

The second is that you must answer a question. But before I get to that, I have a few more rules: You must be a legal resident of the United States or Canada in order to win, you must enter prior to Saturday, June 21 and you must be awesome — which all of our readers are, so that should be the easy part. And now, the question:

If you were going to become a Bond badguy (or gal), what city in the world would you choose to setup shop? Where would your base of evil operations be?

  • it would be in juarez mexico close to where i live. place has enough corrupt cops and governemnt so i would be set, to do my evil doings .

i'd set up in some buttcrack, USA kind of a city, with no signs of actual civilization for miles and miles, and i would make it seem like it's just your average, run-of-the-mill polygamist colony as a coverup. they'd never suspect i was really an evil genius bent on world power. ha ha ha.
  • Looks like movie fans don't read books, only 2 people? Come on! It's classic James Bond! I would set up shop in Moscow, because a good Russian setting is clutch. I would, borrowing a page from Goldeneye, have some sort of offsite base in a warm, sunny, beachfront property.
  • Casablanca! Ever since watching that famous movie, I've felt it's an intriguing place where East meets West and nothing and nobody is as they say they are. Just the place to make a villain feel home :)

I can trump you all with the one place that Sir Ian loved most!...Nassau, Bahamas would be my operational base of choice. 1) It is paradise and a known international port of call for the rich, powerful, & scoundrels alike! So, this "Mohammed" wouldn't have to go to the mountain-it would come to me! 2) It's currency trades on par w/USD so that gives me a financial advantage on top of the fact that The Bahamas has been a tax haven for YEARS & their #2 industry is Finance!!! 3) It's the hometown/country of my beloved wife, (who'd naturally be a Bond (Bad)Girl btw), so again, that would give me an operational advantage because of her connections there and her bottomless knowledge of her country. 4) Apart from Hurricane season, the weather there is devine. & 5) You have the advantage of being able to do awesome car chases as well as speedboat chases so you can really pick your poison for action sequences and finish up by having some of the most beautiful backdrops to shoot the film against. So, with all those factors in mind, as a Bond villian, I would be a fool to choose somewhere else. I mean, I could pick somewhere obvious where crime is abundant like Mexico, but the key to being a good villian is all in how you package your operation and the best packaging is that which is so beautiful, it can distact those searching for you from their task at hand, whilst you go about accomplishing your goals of world domination.

My 2nd choice would actually be a 2-parter: Turkey & Dubai. Turkey was once called the Centre of the World for an excellent reason as you can be in two continents (Europe/Asia) in one city and it has one of the highest amounts of different languages spoken on the face of the planet. It's traditions combined with the various international influences makes it a natural international port of call & trade and as mentioned above (see pt#1) would make my movements for world domination alot more feasible and economically sound. Dubai is one of the fastest, richest growing nations in the world and they are really busting a move on the fronts of 1st class resorts properties, finance, travel/tourism, sports/entertainment, & technology. They are one of the most forward-minded set of people in the world and soon will be one of the most exclusive places to travel to, (if they aren't already). With that in mind, this is one of the BEST places to set up shop as a Bond villian. Again, the backdrop is BEAUTIFUL and because of the exclusivity of Dubai, you'd be hard pressed not to see rich, famous, & powerful people of all types there. The perfect place to make the necessary connections to rebuild S.P.E.C.T.R.E. or start your own world domination organization & get the type of access you need to funding, politicians, power brokers, & the hyper-riche/royalty. So, both of those places would actually make an excellent backdrop in one movie, (& you know that Bond usually has anywhere from 2-5 different countries/cities as the main backdrops to their storylines).
  • D-Rock
In Denver, Colorado, inside the Rockies

OH YEAH-& in both of those above choices-due to the exclusivity of Nassau & Dubai, you gain ALOT of privacy, which is another reason those locales make for perfect places to set up your base of operations. You can run your world domination campaign without being harassed by anybody and these places thrive on their reputations for respecting the privacy of its rich & wealthy. They don't bombard you w/local press coverage & people harrassing you for your autograph, etc.. So, once again, I win. >:oD <( MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!)
  • Susan
Would want to be in Brussels Belgium - Central, rich and full of intrigues
  • Chris F.
I'd set up in a German disco where people would be too drugged up or drunk to
notice my plans for world domination being put in to play.
