My town has a very good curbside recycling program as well as a site to drop off hazardous waste materials. With a system as good as this already in place, I enjoy recycling any and all materials whenever I can

My community has a ONE CAN recycling collection that picks up curb side, so it makes it 110% easy to recycle. We also work from home, use cloth diapers, have energy efficient appliances/light bulbs, and Freecycle often.

I teach. Realizing a long time ago that my actions could only go so far and people don’t act because they don’t realize the urgency of our situation. Adult consumption habits are harder to change but if we start when they’re young and show by example the next generation will be able to lead this planet into the future. My car died recently and I have chosen not to get one. I get around now on bike and public transit now. Kinda difficult in a city like Calgary where urban sprawl is pretty bad, but possible. We recently renovated our condo and we got bamboo flooring and used low VOC paint. Oh, and the least amount of plastic possible.

Never thought of myself as a hippie, but once I started making environmental choices it was hard to go back.
