Zombies, Nazis, And Ass Oh My! New Viral Marketing For Dead Snow

The video below really doesn’t need much in the way of setup. Just know that it’s viral marketing for Dead Snow, the upcoming Nazi zombie flick from Norway. Got it? Zombies. Nazis. Viral marketing. Okay… proceed.

Makes you want to rush out and eat some Norwegian ass doesn’t it? (Cause the movie is about flesh-eating zombies see…)

So how long did you last? Did you make it to the 1:11 mark when the actual marketing appeared? Or the 2:06 mark with the glitter and nipples? Thanks to Twitch for the heads up on the video, and for doing the research necessary for me to tell you the ass above belongs to model/reality-show-alumni Linni Meister. I did try doing a Google search for her, but it seemed stuck on the Pictures setting so all I found were pics from her sex tape.

Watch: The ‘Funny People’ Viral Sitcom ‘Yo Teach!’

We got an email yesterday about a hot new sitcom hitting the airwaves this fall, and we didn’t think to post it because – why would we? The only television I ever watch is the closed circuit feed from a apartment lobby somewhere that accidentally got rewired to my television set. When will Bald Guy from 3B finally admit his feelings for Lady with Sunglasses from 5D? When!

Luckily, /film was smart enough to actually look at the promo materials which turned out to be a really solid viral campaign from Judd Apatow’s upcoming Funny People involving Jason Schwartzman’s character Mark Taylor Jackson returning for a second season on the show “Yo Teach!” The show is a pitch-perfect parody of basically all other classroom sitcoms that makes me long for the hilarious work of Howard Hesseman.

As you can see, the English language is Bo’s biggest rival. It doesn’t get anymore averagely funny than that, folks. The show also has its own fake page on NBC which makes me wonder why they don’t go ahead and just make the show – it’s not like NBC didn’t finish fourth among all the networks and needs a winner this fall season.

Stay tuned – we’ll probably be covering Funny People more and possibly even reading our email from time to time.

Watchmen Viral Video Shows Virtue of Fighting Vigilantes

Fellow Americans, in order to better understand the forthcoming Watchmen, you must watch the latest video concerning The Keene Act. Beware, this video contains obscene amounts of truth!

Props to the lovely /Film for offering news on the Watchmen viral website The New Frontiersman. The site is increasing the viral infection with their latest retro Government Public Service Announcement from 1977 titled “The Keene Act & You”. The video breaks down the new government act that hopes to make the streets safer by removing costumed vigilantes: The laws aren’t superhero friendly, but the government isn’t about making friends, fool. No Masks, No Capes, No Gadgets or Experimental Weapons, No Dangerous Unlicensed Vehicles.

Check out the video here and be suspicious of any citizens wearing masks.

Viral Video: 1970 News Broadcast for Dr. Manhattan

Yet again, the marketing departments are showing how imaginative they can be in hooking superfans deeper and grabbing unsuspecting film fans with advertising disguised as actual media material. Last year, The Joker terrorized us, sent us to bowling alleys, and sold us out to the Gotham Police Department.

Now, the team behind selling Watchmen has earned similar praise with an incredible new video mimicking the 1970’s style news man (stay classy, San Diego) doing a report on Ten Years of Dr. Manhattan – a true milestone in American History. They’ve nailed the beta-video look and single-source sound that characterized those broadcasts, making this video even more a part of that brilliant alternate universe where masked heroes exist and Nixon is still president.

Harry Potter Meets The Office: The Salesman’s Stoned

What happens when everyone’s favorite workplace comedy is cast with the characters from everyone’s favorite British wizard school? Well, this happens…

From the folks at Atom comes a look at JK’s The Office & The Salesman’s Stoned, Episode 1. I am going to file this under “Humor” but it is more along the lines of “mildly funny, worth a look on a slow day.” So, if you are having a slow day and you dig a laugh at the expense of Harry Potter, this should be right up your alley.

‘Rain of Madness,’ Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman Hit iTunes

Paramount Pictures has officially released the documentary behind the movie Tropic Thunder, known as Rain of Madness, online for free on iTunes. As you will probably see when you go stomping away to watch this spot of brilliance, the documentary illuminates some of the funniest elements of Tropic Thunder, including more backstory for the character of Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black) as well as Kevin Sandusky (Jay Baruchel). Also, we get our first official look at Tom Cruise as Les Grossman online — a few times during the doc. For those who have seen the film, you will remember that Cruise’s role in the film was a real showstopper.

As well, having just watched Rain of Madness in full, I can say that it is just as funny as Tropic Thunder, bringing out more of the satirical humor that made the film so much fun. If you have about 30 minutes, I would suggest checking it out over on iTunes by clicking below:

Exclusive: Vin Diesel Smacks Down This Summer’s Heroes

To put it lightly, Vin Diesel would not appreciate being called a “bitch” in any forum. But to say that he “ain’t no bitch,” is in many ways a relative understatement. No matter what you have to say about the star of The Fast and the Furious, xXx and Knockaround Guys, he has had his fair share of badass roles.

And though he has done a few projects in the past few years that have been much different, including the abysmal Disney comedy The Pacifier and a somewhat critically acclaimed dramatic turn in Find Me Guilty, Diesel always knows to go back to the well. That said, he will be hitting your movie screens with a vengeance in Babylon A.D. on August 29th. Directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, who previously brought us Gothika, A.D. will feature Diesel as a mercenary hired to escort a woman from Russia to China. And as these things go, there is more to her story.

As I mentioned, the film doesn’t hit until the end of the month, but it appears that Vin has already started laying down punches. That is, if you count this little video below, which was sent over to us by FSR reader Evan. Have a look, and a laugh, for yourself below.

Tropic Thunder Doesn’t Back Down; More Viral Brilliance

By now you should have some idea of what is going on in the world of Ben Stiller and his newly released action comedy Tropic Thunder. If you aren’t up to speed, Cole Abaius wrote a solid recap of the situation here. But I am not writing this to talk about the controversy, I am here to bring you more funny videos from the faux documentary within the faux production of the real movie that is Tropic Thunder.

It is called Rain of Madness, and its shenanigans can be seen over at RainofMadness.com. If you’ve visited said website, you have undoubtedly seen some of the hilarious behind the scenes satire. To add to the fun, two more new videos have been added featuring Robert Downey Jr.’s character Kirk Lazurus. Have a look at the two new videos at the bottom, and the one previous video (which helps explain what’s going on) above them.

Before You See ‘The Love Guru’ You Must Watch This…

We know that thanks to our fantastic coverage of The Love Guru, which stars Mike Myers, Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake, that you are going to be running out to your local theater to see it when it releases on Friday, June 20. But before we can allow you to see a movie about a Hindu sex guru played by Mike Myers, we must show you something equally as intriguing. At least, we were intrigued…

This video, which has been made popular on YouTube, is called “Indian Thriller.” It is a remake of Michael Jackson’s famous “Thriller” music video. And it just might help get you in the right laughing mood to properly enjoy a film just as The Love Guru.

Get Infected with a ‘Tropic Thunder’ Viral Video

Right now, Paramount Studios is rocking the box office. And if indicators are right, the awesomeness will continue when Kung Fu Panda rocks the big screen for major bucks.

To rub the salt in the wounds of all the other studios, Paramount released this viral video to help promote the August release of Tropic Thunder. What’s it about? Well, it’s about making a viral video to promote Tropic Thunder. Go figure.

Originally a spot to also promote the MTV Movie Awards (which happened this past weekend), it goes down so much easier than Seth Rogen and James Franco smoking fake weed on stage.

Take a gander at the video below for a few laughs as Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. scuffle. And the two best things about this… 1) Jack Black doesn’t scat at all, and 2) they don’t even mention The Love Guru.

Oh, and someone gets kicked in the nuts:

The Wackness: Luke Shapiro’s Dope Show

Even indie movies can do the viral marketing thing — you don’t have to be working on a Dark Knight-sized budget to make some kickass YouTube videos. The following was dropped in my email box this morning by Luke Shapiro, played in the film The Wackness by Josh Peck. It is episode 1, part one of Shapiro’s “Dope Show”, which was mad hot on cable access in New York City back in ‘94. In the show, Shapiro and the various characters in and around his apartment complex discuss things that are dope. Check it out below:

I know, I know — you have had enough of all this Indiana Jones jargon this week. Or maybe you haven’t, as many of you are just now flocking to theaters to check out the aging Dr. Jones and his latest adventure. Maybe it is just me who is starting to grow tired of typing the words “Indiana” and “Jones”. Either way, I have another Indy related treat for you this afternoon. The fine folks over at infoMania sent over a link to this video called Viral Video Film School: Indiana Jones. It takes a look at what you would have to do in order to make your own Indiana Jones viral video. Beware though, when it comes to viral Indy vids, there is tons of competition. X-Files Virus Spreading

Is viral advertising a type of virus or does my headline not make sense? Am I being too self-referential? Has the fourth wall been utterly destroyed? Well honestly this update is short so I can take up as much space as I want. But in the interest of brevity:

Some short (think 30 seconds) clips of Mulder and Scully have appeared on YouTube with each talking about the other. There is a little fancy editing going on to keep things ‘interesting’ but these tidy tidbits are just a tiny drop of water for those thirsting for more X-Files. Go ahead and take a minute, literally, to check them out below, though if you miss them, you’re not really missing out.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe hits theaters on July 25th. Check out the first trailer and the teaser poster.

Kevin Defends Uwe Boll

We have always suspected that there is something a little, well, off about FSR Senior Editor Kevin Carr. To be more precise, many have questioned that his taste in movies doesn’t necessarily conform to conventional standards. But despite those questionable moviewatching standards, we never expected to see what we are about to share with you below. As you will see, our good friend Kevin has finally cracked under the pressure of being a professional film critic… He has finally gone off the deep end and he has accepted his love for the “genius” of Uwe Boll, which he expresses for you in the following video…

Elizabeth Banks: I’m F’ing Seth Rogen

First came Sarah Silverman’s now infamous song “I’m F’ing Matt Damon”, which she unleashed on beau Jimmy Kimmel on his TV show. Then came Kimmel’s response, titled “I’m F’ing Ben Affleck”. Now, we have a little spoof of those vids straight from the set of Kevin Smith’s upcoming film Zack and Miri Make a Porno. In this one star Elizabeth Banks shows off her skills on the guitar and professes her sexual relationship with Seth Rogen.

Also, note the cameos from other Zack and Miri cast members, including Craig Robinson, Jeff Anderson and good ole’ Jason Mewes.

This one is completely NSFW… But also probably the most awesome thing you will see… Ever.
