As we begin our celebration of The Muppets, you’ll notice that we’ve got plenty to cover. Not only are we looking back at the history of Kermit and friends, we’re also celebrating their return in the Disney film, directed by James Bobin, that we’ve already said is a fun return to form for these beloved characters. So it’s only right that we begin with a look at the colorful imagery released by Disney in anticipation of the film. The above image of Billy Murray chomping his cigarette filter behind the wheel of an antique comes courtesy of Hyde Park on Hudson (and an interview USA Today did with director Roger Michell (Notting Hill, Morning Glory). It’s a striking resemblance that almost makes him look like Franklin Delano Roosevelt by way of Kevin Kline.

This is the kind of prestige role that comes in the twilight of a career, but Michell isn’t yet known for crafting Oscar-worthy content. Maybe this is the film that will turn that around, maybe it will earn Murray some Academy recognition, or maybe it’ll just be a fun gambol through an odd culture-clashing, affair-while-President moment in our country’s fair history.

In the newest edition of Entertainment Weekly, Andrew Garfield is keen to point out that his work in the new Amazing Spider-Man isn’t a “replacement” for the work done by Tobey Maguire even though, by definition, it is. While Sony won’t be scouring the world destroying copies of the other movies, Garfield is undoubtedly the new face of the franchise.

That status was made official with the first look at his character  in action – perched on a subway train ceiling, clinging to Emma Stone while shirtless and staring over his shoulder dramatically.

An intrepid spy from some exotic corner of the world took a ton snapshots of some giant wooden objects that are supposedly being used for Wrath of the Titans, the sequel, of course, to Clash of the Titans.

There’s nothing to lose your mind about (unless you’re one of those people that goes ape-y over prop construction (and there’s nothing wrong with that)) as the photos mostly show an half-built ship, a bunch of barrels, and what appears to be a sunken wreck of something.

It’s behind the scenes stuff from Tumba Abierta (entretenimiento fantastico!) which Aint It Cool managed to pick up on. Here are a few samples:

Stake Land hit select theaters this Friday, and now two character images make their way to your eyeballs.

The latest from Mulberry Street director Jim Mickle, the movie tells the story of a country collapsed, a vampire plague hosted by the abandoned towns, and a frantic escape to the safe refuge of Canada.

That makes total sense.

Check out the hobo chic and vampire aesthetic of the images for yourself:

They both remind me of girls I used to date who, ironically, were from Canada.

I have a feeling that second one would eat Edward Cullen’s face off.

This summer can’t get here fast enough. After the arthouse slow-burn of Part I, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II promises to be a force of giant wand-waving action.

Fortunately, a few new images have hit the web thanks to those scamps at EW, and almost all of them show a prelude to action. It’s difficult to say whether these images spoil anything, of course. If you want to go in completely clean, don’t look at them, but if you don’t mind seeing the characters looking like they’re about to chew bubble gum and take names, then by all means…

…go right ahead:

Where’s the fifth image? It’s over at EW, and it features Ron, Hermione, and Harry staring intently. Enticing, yes?

I love that if you look at the picture of Harry shoving a sword into the darkness on a pile of golden treasures, followed by the picture of the Death Eaters, it looks like they’re genuinely taken aback by something. Like Adam Sandler just got drunk at a family dinner and said something horrific.

Also, it’s refreshing that everyone has to wear dark colors. Good guy, bad guy, doesn’t matter. There doesn’t seem to be any sunshine in this movie from its advertising.

Kim Coates! Awesome. That guy looks like a washed out Kevin Pollock and he does great deranged work.

In case you didn’t catch it, there was a pretty awesome art show back in November. This art show was called “Bad Dads”, and featured some art inspired by the films of Wes Anderson. If you caught it, you know it was awesome. Now we have an exclusive to show you of something even more awesomer.

“Bad Dads” was curated by SpokeArt and let me tell you, they don’t hold anything back. The show was an epic exhibition that grabbed any Wes Anderson fan and forced them to look in awe and fork over their cash. It’s unclear what sort of dance class these young women are attending, but the standard dress code seems to be whatever they can find at Frederick’s of Hollywood. Maybe it’s a stripper fitness thing.

What has been clear, especially from the trailers, is that Zack Snyder wanted to send his Sucker Punch actors out into the robot and dragon-infested wastelands wearing very, very little, and these pictures want to prove that there’s even less they can wear and no fetish they can’t tackle.

It’s enough to make Brad over at Rope of Silicon question the sheer amount of dirty old men that will be in the back of the theater opening night.

However the real question is why this man is playing Clark Kent, but not playing Superman:

Seriously. Am I crazy here?

As for the sexuality and fetish fulfillment of the Sucker Punch costume choices, this is what happens when an industry casts 22-year-old actresses as both high school freshman and young executives. The age range may cause for some conflicting thoughts, but it’s not that serious. It’s just sex.

And, hopefully as promised, an ass-kicking.

Also, anyone who thinks this is chauvinistic clearly doesn’t realize how powerful Jon Hamm in suspenders can be to the right person.

Scott Glenn as a samurai? Not so much.

Women can be smart, strong and sexy all at the same time. It’s true. They can also add to that pile a bit of insecurity, sensitivity and compassion. And about two dozen other emotions and states of mind that men don’t even have words for yet.

It is that dynamic nature of women that Carla Gugino and the rest of the cast of Women In Trouble and its sequel, Elektra Luxx, attempt to capture alongside a healthy bit of soap operatics and sexual comedy. Gugino plays a porn star who finds out that she’s pregnant and stands as the center piece of several other stories that intertwine directly and thematically.

Both movies are great, and now Elektra Luxx is seeing the light of day and so are these images:

That’s Carla Gugino, Marley Shelton, and Adrianne Palicki – just a taste of the ensemble cast featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Malin Ackerman and a cast of what seems like thousands.

Earlier this evening, we posted up a second trailer for Scream 4, which hits theaters the very same day that your taxes are due. Scary.

Now, we’ve gotten our hands on 5 new images that show off the cast a bit better, especially those that haven’t seen much screen time in the trailers so far: namely Kristen Bell, Anna Paquin, the new high school crew, and Alison Brie.

Plus, there are some stabby good shots of Neve Campbell too.

Why does that high school shot make me want to host a contest where we ask you, dear reader, to recreate the pose with just as much smug self-satisfaction?

It can’t be because I’m old. After all, I was only 12 when the first Scream came out.

The fine folks over at / have gotten their hands on some concept props for the movie, designed by the industrial design majors of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The call went out to students, and the production picked the 20 favorites for inclusion in the movie itself. Pretty great, eh?

Prepare for the inundation of Spider-Man stuff. The first official picture of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker opened a flood gate that has people asking about manual spider webs and hunting down the set to take pictures and video. In a way, it feels like the good old days. Folks passionate about movies are snapping off unauthorized content and sending it in to their favorite movie sites (and TMZ).

The nostalgia is palpable. So is the blue and red spandex.

Here are those pictures you asked for, chief:

Perfect. Some stunt work on a wire, and a thrilling shot of Spidey jay walking across the street.

The pictures and video seem clearly from the same shoot, and the interesting thing is that, with 500 Days of Summer as his first feature, we’re all paying witness to the first time Marc Webb has ever shot a stunt scene with this many moving cars and front flips.

What do you think? Pretty cool and yet non-spoilery.

I’ve been fortunate enough to see every single picture from Drive Angry because I’ve seen the movie, and it’s about as fun a ride as you can imagine. The 3D is gimmicky and wonderful, the story is on a hellbent mission, and William Fichtner creates a character that will live forever as an icon.

He, however, is not the main focus of these new pics from the movie. That focus happens to be Amber Heard in Daisy Dukes. The marketers know what they’re doing.

My Idiot Brother

The movie features Paul Rudd as the eternal optimist with an uncanny beard-growing ability who springs back into the lives of his three sisters – played by Emily Mortimer, Elizabeth Banks, and Zooey Deschanel.

There are 9 new images from the film which mostly show off the hippie rug covering Rudd’s face, as well as the strong, aforementioned talent pool playing his siblings.

Behind the Walls

Perhaps this new concept art (especially the giant rat) will help that fame along. Of course, having international super model Laetitia Casta doesn’t hurt either.

The film focuses on a woman who sequesters herself in order to write a novel who finds a sealed room in the house and begins having nightmarish hallucinations. Basically, it’s the plot from I Spit on Your Grave without the rape.

So there’s a live shot of Laetitia Casta in there, too. Hopefully that doesn’t ruin your day.

This will mark the first feature from the directing team of Pascal Sid and Julien Lacombe. Hopefully it ushers in a glorious new era of French filmmaking in three full dimensions. Also, hopefully, it’s heavy on the scares and creepy rodents of unusual size.

The trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides doesn’t debut until Monday, but a little birdie dropped six images from the new film into my email box. How the bird got into the internet in the first place, I have no idea, and I won’t listen to any calls from PETA about it.

If you’re anticipating the film with your own hand-made countdown calendar, these pics might be just the thing to salve your soul. If you’re just bored on a Thursday, you can play an endless game of peek-a-boo with Captain Jack Sparrow thanks to one of them.

They don’t tell us much about the story, but they sure do look pretty. That shot of Captain Jack being arrested is gorgeous, and the shot of Penelope Cruz isn’t half bad either…

Fortunately, some new set photos have popped up, and they display a deserted Mega City One and its variety of snack options, dog catching vehicles and convenient INGSOC signage.

If you see a visor-headed shadow spying on you while checking these out, run for your damned life.

For random set pieces on an empty block, these look pretty great actually. There’s not quite as much detail as the set photos we caught from Watchmen a while back, but the world of Mega City One is one closer to our own concrete jungles, so it all makes sense. Who knows what else the production designers have up their sleeves. Hopefully more snack machines because it’s almost lunch time.
