I often say it is “feast or famine” at the box office, and as has been the custom for the past several weeks, the trend held true as Cloudy with a Chance of Meetballs won the weekend with a healthy $30.1 million haul.

We’ve got some heavy A-list talent on hand this weekend at the theaters: Matt Damon! Jennifer Aniston!! Megan Fox!!! And in the end these folks may all end up losing at the box office to 3D CGI spaghetti and meatballs.

When an employee gets the FBI involved in a price fixing investigation, a witless goon and his mustache become the keys to a governmental investigation.

It was the most predictable first place finish ever this weekend, as Tyler Perry continued his usual domination of the box office against all the usual September also-rans and flops. Such is life in September at the theaters.

All I gotta say is thank you very much Tyler Perry for making I Can Do Bad All By Myself. You have made my decision about who finishes first at the box office a whole lot easier.

As expected it was a dead weekend at the theaters this Labor Day weekend — so much so that The Final Destination ended up winning the box office with a haul of only $12.4 million!

If you are going to the movies this weekend, there will be less lineups to navigate and more of a chance you’ll get a good seat, far away from other noisy and annoying theater patrons. And maybe you’ll be able to watch Gamer, All About Steve and Extract in relative peace.

It turned out my premonition about who would finish first at the box office this weekend was pretty accurate, as The Final Destination took the top spot with a haul of $28 million.

Two absolutely frightening movies, both loaded with death, do battle in this weekend’s box office duel to the death: Halloween IIand The Final Destination. Oh, and for you Aquarius-type people there’s Taking Woodstock.

Not only did Inglourious Basterds win the weekend, but it scored a higher-than-expected $37.6 million! What’s more, this is the best opening for a Tarantino movie ever.

Welcome to what is sure to be a very Inglourious weekend at the movie theaters this weekend, as Quentin Tarantino’s much-anticipated Inglourious Basterds comes out seeking box office glory — or is it “gloury?”.

I really don’t have too much to say this week at the Reject Report, other than the fact that District 9 cleaned up, as predicted, at the box office, toppling G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra.

The big question this week concerns the box office fortunes of G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra… which might end up being referred to as the Fall of the Cobra by the end of the weekend.

I always find it odd when people whine and complain and bash a movie before it appears for months on end, and then suddenly everyone has a big change of heart at the last minute and sees it. Such is G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra.

I have this to say to all you people out there who spent hundreds of millions of dollars on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and claimed you loved the action and effects. All I have to say to you is simply this: see you all at G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Well, why don’t we just officially come out and say it, now? “Summer season at the movies has been crap!” Okay, maybe it really hasn’t been that bad, but it sure feels that way to some people.

It’s another edition of the Reject Report and we have some big wide releases on tap this weekend, including the family adventure Alone in the Attic and the Judd Apatow laughfest Funny People, starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen.

This weekend we had an upset at the box office. G-Force, that Disney movie with the funny animals, took down Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

It sure does feel like a down weekend at theaters. What else is there to say? This weekend we are looking at three movies coming out — G-Force, The Ugly Truth and Orphan — and quite simply I don’t know anyone who’s been waiting all summer to see this.

The Harry Potter devotees waited a long time for this latest adventure, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, to show up. And when I say they couldn’t wait, I mean they REALLY couldn’t wait.
