I was working on the ol’ laptop while watching Gangland on The History Channel and mentally preparing myself for My Bloody Valentine 3D and just thinking, in general, about nude women and chainsaws, when an email popped up that would change the course of my life forever. I’m kidding, it only changed my life for like 15 minutes. For those of you who were with us in early August, you might remember that we brought you the bootlegged Wolverine footage from the surprise Comic-Con presentation. If you can, go back to that footage in your mind for a moment and think about it as you watch the bootlegged Wolverine trailer below, which is currently playing in front of The Day the Earth Stood Still. They are essentially the same, plus or minus a small clip or two. Thus, my reaction is unchanged — this film looks like fun and I am still excited.

The version below is quite flickery and shaky, but I’m sure you’ll be fine. The trailer will be online in high resolution formats come Monday. And for those of you who went and sat through TDESS to see this trailer on the big screen, please accept my apologies on behalf of 20th Century Fox.

You know that old saying, “I’ve had worse.” That is how I feel about the upcoming cinematic adaptation of Dragonball. I suppose that while nothing about this movie grabs me in any way — except possibly Emmy Rossum — worse films will be released over the course of the next 12 months. As well, the Dragonball game and cartoon series have major followings, so just because I lack interest, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of people waiting anxiously for April 3, 2009.

Of course, before the movie can be released, we must go through the marketing blitz that will ultimately include at least a few trailers — one of which was leaked online via DBtheMovie.com today. The footage is without proper audio, as it was recorded by a random bystander at the Brand Licensing Europe Expo over the weekend. What I can gather from the footage below is that the visuals in this film are dangling in the area between “impressive” and “overdone.” Who knows about the rest. Either way, the video is below.

The full teaser trailer for Dragonball is rumored to be running in front of Max Payne when it hits theaters on October 17th, so until then this is all we have to go on. Dragonball stars Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Emmy Rossum and Chow Yun-Fat. It is directed by James Wong.

Some of you may be coming here in search of a bootleg trailer for Frank Miller’s The Spirit. As well, some of you may have come expecting to find that the trailer was removed. Well, it is true — we did have a leaked version of the trailer and we did have to take it down. But as luck would have it, Yahoo! has released the same trailer in high definition less than 24 hours after we broke the case wide open. Funny how that works.

Anyway, you can now enjoy the officially released trailer for Frank Miller’s The Spirit below. You can also see it in HD over at Yahoo Movies.

And now, the commentary from the original post:

The first full trailer for Frank Miller’s  has been leaked our way and I’m not sure about you, but this thing just is not looking too great. I’m not sure, but it looks a little too hyper-stylized for my taste. I’m not saying that something based on Eisner’s work shouldn’t be chock full of style — I just get the feeling that this film is trying a little too hard. Then again, most of what we’ve seen legally online, including the first teaser trailer, has all been little bits and pieces — but this trailer gives us a little bit more

Like I said, I am not sold on this movie just yet. I dig the concept, I loved the comic and I am also a fan of Frank Miller’s work, at least the kind he does on paper. This however, isn’t doing it for me. The dialog sounds awkward, the effects seem forced and over-the-top and I don’t know if it is going to be anything but another excuse to go heavy on the use of green screen to make a “innovative” comic book flick. I am wondering whether this will end up on the Sin City side of the spectrum or the Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow side. At this point, it is still too early to tell for sure.

As many have said, you can’t believe everything you see on TV. The same can be said for the internet, upon which rumors, hearsay and diversions generally run a muck. Along those lines, we got a note from FSR faithful super-ninja Tom K. late this evening of a possible picture of a possible Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen poster that has possibly begun circulating around the web. It looks like it could be pretty cool, if it were (a) real and (b) in focus. At this point, I would prefer in focus, but for now this will have to do:

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is due out in theaters on June 26, 2009. It is currently filming in Pennsylvania.
