You should also know that Michael Biehn, who played Cpl. Hicks in Aliens, has a resume filled with fun and memorable flicks. The Terminator, Timebomb, The Abyss, The Seventh Sign, K2, The Rock, Tombstone, and Planet Terror are just a few of his awesomely entertaining movies. Sure he also starred in Take Me Home Tonight, but a man’s gotta put food on the table. Well if you love the guy as much as you should then you’ll be excited to know he’s hosting a double feature at the Alamo Drafthouse on Saturday the 14th. That’s tomorrow! It’s also in Austin Texas, so if you’re not geographically located nearby you should probably stop reading now. (In fact, go ahead and read this instead.) And we’ve got a free pair of tickets to both screenings to give away! Check below to see how you can win, but do it fast as the contest ends at midnight tonight (PST). The screenings will be taking place at Austin’s Alamo S. Lamar theater with Aliens playing at 7pm and The Divide following at 1155pm. Both films include an audience Q&A with Biehn, so start planning those queries now. Ask him what it’s like to touch Sigourney Weaver! Or what he thought about the opening to Alien 3! Or about the challenge of directing! Or if he’s related to Orson Bean! [Due to Content Scraping and Theft, we have been forced to try abbreviated feeds.

With Cpl. Dwayne Hicks, MR. MICHEAL BIEHN, in attendance to entertain your questions and show you what a real fucking man looks like. That’s right! The genre legend, star of some of the best sci-fi and action films of all time–THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS, TOMBSTONE, THE ABYSS, GRINDHOUSE and many more–will be screening THE DIVIDE and ALIENS at the Alamo Drafthouse with an audience Q&A!

Fifty-seven years after her ordeal with an extraterrestrial creature, Ellen Ripley is rescued by a deep salvage team during her hypersleep, only to discover human settlements have popped up on the alien planet, LV-426. Ripley returns to the planet to help out the cocksure, tough as nails space Marines investigate the sudden break in communications from LV-426. AND THEN SH*T GETS REAL. James Cameron picked up where Ridley Scott left off and then turned it up to 11. You will see aliens come out of the walls and Bill Paxton scream, “THAT’S IT! GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER…” And of course, shots will be fired and things will explode. So stay frosty marine, and grab a ticket to the all-out, balls-to-wall masterpiece that is ALIENS.”

Good luck!

Focus Features has hooked us up with a way to send you to the Los Angeles premiere of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, starring Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch. And by send, we mean give you tickets. You’ll have to furnish your own local transportation to get you to the event. To boot, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is an excellent movie. I can confirm as much first hand, as I caught it a few weeks ago. You’ll get a free, good movie to watch and you may even end up seeing a few famous people, if you’re into that sort of thing. Find out how you can enter to win yourself a pair of tickets after the jump. 1. The premiere will take place on Tuesday, December 6th in Los Angeles. So make sure you are (a) available that evening and (b) live in Los Angeles, as we can’t get you there otherwise (our private jet doesn’t exist). 2. We will be providing one (1) pair of tickets to three (3) different winners each. That means you can bring a guest, so start thinking of who you’d like to bring. And then think of who you will brag to later in order to make them feel jealous (because you know you’ll want to). 3. Jump down to the comments section below and provide an answer to the following question: Next Monday is my birthday. Yes, I’m getting old.
About the Film

The long-awaited feature film version of John le Carré’s classic bestselling novel. The time is 1973. The Cold War of the mid-20th Century continues to damage international relations. Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), a.k.a. MI6 and code-named the Circus, is striving to keep pace with other countries’ espionage efforts and to keep the U.K. secure. The head of the Circus, known as Control (John Hurt), personally sends dedicated operative Jim Prideaux (Mark Strong) into Hungary. But Jim’s mission goes bloodily awry, and Control is forced out of the Circus – as is his top lieutenant, George Smiley (Gary Oldman), a career spy with razor-sharp senses. Estranged from his absent wife Ann, Smiley is soon called in to see undersecretary Oliver Lacon (Simon McBurney); he is to be rehired in secret at the government’s behest, as there is a gnawing fear that the Circus has long been compromised by a double agent, or mole, working for the Soviets and jeopardizing England. Supported by younger agent Peter Guillam (Benedict Cumberbatch), Smiley parses Circus activities past and present. In trying to track and identify the mole, Smiley is haunted by his decades-earlier interaction with the shadowy Russian spy master Karla. The mole’s trail remains cold until maverick field agent Ricki Tarr (Tom Hardy) unexpectedly contacts Lacon. While undercover in Turkey, Ricki has fallen for a betrayed married woman, Irina (Svetlana Khodchenkova), who claims to possess crucial intelligence. Separately, Smiley learns that Control narrowed down the list of mole suspects to five men. Even before the startling truth is revealed, the emotional and physical tolls on the players enmeshed in the deadly international spy game will escalate…

The magical time of year when decorations are hung, families gather to celebrate, gifts are exchanged, and children cower in fear that Santa Claus will kidnap and eat them. Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale is a fantastic family adventure film from Finland that has all the hallmarks of a holiday classic.
The official synopsis and trailer are below.

It’s the eve of Christmas in northern Finland, and an ‘archeological’ dig has just unearthed the real Santa Claus. But this particular Santa isn’t the one you want coming to town. When the local children begin mysteriously disappearing, young Pietari and his father Rauno, a reindeer hunter by trade, capture the mythological being and attempt to sell Santa to the misguided leader of the multinational corporation sponsoring the dig. Santa’s elves, however, will stop at nothing to free their fearless leader from captivity. What ensues is a wildly humorous nightmare – a fantastically bizarre polemic on modern day morality.”

Each successive film copies from its predecessor and often ends up a pale copy. Wes Craven’s Scream series is no exception as parts two and three were both far lesser films than the original. Still, they each had bits that worked. Needless to say, when plans for a fourth film were announced a decade after Scream 3 very few people were excited at the prospect. And then Scream 4 ended up being the best Scream since the original. My full review is here, but the bottom line is that the movie is “funny, fresh, and wonderfully bloody, and it finds that delicate balance between horror and comedy that the last entry missed entirely.” Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson (who also wrote the original) have pulled off something special here with the help of a fantastically entertaining cast. (Second best ensemble of the year behind Horrible Bosses!) The lead trio returns, but they’re joined by several recognizable faces who help add personality, comedic timing, and sex appeal (thank you Hayden Panettiere). It’s a lot of fun, and fans of the series who passed on it in theaters should definitely give it a watch on DVD or Blu-ray. Speaking of DVD… Scream 4 hits shelves on Tuesday, October 4th, and we’re giving one away to a lucky winner! Keep reading for your chance to win.
The official synopsis is below:

Directed by suspense master and director of the first trilogy, Wes Craven, SCREAM 4 is the newest installment in the acclaimed franchise that ushered in a new wave of horror in the 1990s. In SCREAM 4, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts). Unfortunately Sidney’s appearance also brings about the return of Ghost Face, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends (Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin) and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.”

And this isn’t simply a matter of quantity trumping quality… four of the titles (Ip Man, Ip Man 2, Legend Of the Fist, and The Man From Nowhere) are absolutely stellar action films, and the remaining two (Little Big Soldier and Brothers Five) are fun little flicks.
Shaolin opens this Friday in limited theatrical release. The official synopsis, trailer, and participating theaters are below.

As feuding warlords fight to expand their power, the noble monks of the Shaolin Temple clean up the mess left behind, tending to the injured while trying their best to protect the poor and weak. General Hou (Andy Lau) has caused much of this mess with his violent and ruthless tactics that rarely discriminate between soldiers and civilians. When Hao is betrayed by fellow general Cao Man (Nicholas Tse), he is forced into hiding, and takes refuge with the monks (including Jackie Chan) at their hidden mountain temple. As the days pass, he finds himself more and more at ease as he learns the ways of peace, and begins to release his hatred through Martial Zen. But Cao is not far behind, and war soon reaches the temple, where the monks are ready to fight back with their unstoppable Shaolin Kung Fu.”

Beastly tells the tale of a douchey teenager who’s cursed by a spurned witch and transformed into an unattractively scarred and tattooed freak. The curse can be lifted within a year’s time but only if he can find that blind girl from Mask and make her love him. If she’s not available a former Disney star will do too.
The official synopsis and trailer are below.

After fighting against the Russians during the Winter War in Finland in 1939, Norwegian soldier Max Manus (Aksel Hennie) returns to a German-occupied Norway. He joins the resistance movement and becomes one of the most important members of the so-called “Oslo Gang,” soon confirming his reputation for audacity by making two daring escapes from German captivity. He eventually reunites with his best friend Gregers Gram (Nicolai Cleve Broch) in Scotland, where they receive special training as saboteurs with a pan-national resistance movement, after which they are parachuted back to their homeland. While there, Max and Gregers lead a mission to sink German supply ships in the heavily guarded Oslo harbor, a spectacular act that leads to severe retaliation from the local Gestapo leader, Siegfred Fehmer (Ken Duken).“

Got a good story about that? If you tell us your horrible boss story, and we like it, you can win a pass to an early VIP screening of New Line Cinema’s new flick Horrible Bosses in Columbus, Ohio, hosted by FSR’s resident Fat Guy Kevin Carr. (Please note… former employees of Donald Trump are excluded from this contest because that’d be just too easy. You too, Rob Hunter.) Here’s how you can get in to see Horrible Bosses before it opens and enjoy a VIP reception before the film.

You too, Rob Hunter.)

Here’s how you can get in to see Horrible Bosses before it opens and enjoy a VIP reception before the film. Search your brain for your best (and hopefully true) story about a horrible boss you’ve had in the past. Recount your story in the comments section of this post.
In case you don’t know what Horrible Bosses is all about, check out the trailer below, followed by the official synopsis:

For Nick, Kurt and Dale, the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable bosses into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con, the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers…permanently.

There’s only one problem: even the best laid plans are only as foolproof as the brains behind them.

Jason Bateman (“Couples Retreat”), Charlie Day (“Going the Distance”) and Jason Sudeikis (“Hall Pass”) star as the three hapless workers, with Jennifer Aniston (“He’s Just Not That Into You”), Colin Farrell (“Crazy Heart”) and two-time Oscar® winner Kevin Spacey (“American Beauty,” “The Usual Suspects”), as their unbearable bosses. Oscar® winner Jamie Foxx (“Ray”) stars as the plotters’ unlikely mentor, whose street cred is priced on a sliding scale. The main cast also includes veteran actor Donald Sutherland and Julie Bowen (TV’s “Modern Family”).

But our loss is your gain, because we’re hosting a contest to give away a ridiculous amount of very cool Lantern stuff. This may take a bit more effort than our other contests, but the prize is worth it (especially if you’re a fan or the friend of a fan who wants to make them insanely jealous). So how do you enter? Glad you asked! The show, which earned two Emmy Awards in 2010 for the performances of Bryan Cranston (Lead Actor in a Drama Series) and Aaron Paul (Supporting Actor in a Drama Series), is a tour-de-force of drama, tension and sometimes humor. It’s also about selling meth. But that’s only a small piece of the pie. Many a critic has called Breaking Bad “the best show on television.” I would say such things, as well. In celebration of the upcoming season four premiere in July and the release of season three on DVD and Blu-ray yesterday, we’d like to give one (1) DVD copy away to a very luck reader. Find out how you can win just after the jump. To complete your entry, all we require is that you leave us a comment below. Answer the following dilemma: If you were diagnosed with terminal cancer and didn’t want to leave your family with nothing, what would you do? Would you participate in illegal activities (like selling meth) or would you simply play the lottery? The most creative answer, as always, will go a long way toward winning yourself a gratis copy of season three. As always the contest is open to US residents only ages 18 and up. Be sure the email address associated with your comment is correct as that’s [Due to Content Scraping and Theft, we have been forced to try abbreviated feeds. I’m not even sure what that would mean. They were a fan of bad horror? Or Scream or maybe I Know What You Did Last Summer? Either way, if you’re feeling nostalgic for movies made in the 90s or maybe just for a time period when Rebecca Gayheart was relevant, then we have the contest for you. Starring the previously mentioned Gayheart alongside Rose McGowan before she melted down, then melted her face and had it poorly repaired, and Dexter’s Julie Benz, Jawbreaker was a fun film about High School bitches and murder. Let me whet your whistle with this PR company provided summary: They’re the beautiful ones. The flawless four. Everyone wanted to be them. You know ‘em. They went to your school, too. First there’s Courtney “Satan in Heels” Shayne (Rose McGowan) and her pawn, the dense but dangerous Marcie Fox (Julie Benz), a legend in her own little mind. Then there’s angelic Julie Freedman (Rebecca Gayheart), doomed to be popular because of her pretty face, and lastly, the teen-dream herself, Elizabeth Purr. When an ordinary kidnapping prank leaves the future prom queen dead (accidentally gagged with a jaw-breaker), a deadly sweet prank leads to cover-up makeover in this edgy and unpredictable comedy. But there will be no mercy as prom night arrives, bringing this spirited tale to its cruel tiara-dropping conclusion.
