Jimmy Fallon and Alia ShawkatNo, this isn’t an indie sequel to Threesome. “SNL” Alum Jimmy Fallon and “Arrested Development’s” Alia Shawkat want in on the roller derby flick, Whip It!.

/Film is reporting that the former Weekly Update funnyman will be playing Hot Tub Johnny, a drunken announcer who heckles the roller derby racers. Sounds like a typical Saturday night to me. The question is can Fallon do it without laughing in the middle of his sentences? The world waits in anticipation!

Variety has also claimed that Shawkat, or Maeby Funke to “Arrested Development” lovers, will be playing Pash in the film alongside recent Academy Award nominee Ellen Page. The rest of the cast has some heavy hitters. Marcia Gay Harden, Drew Barrymore, who’s also set to direct the film, and Juliette Lewis are all in on the derby action. And we just have to mention that hip-hop artist Eve will be playing the role of Rosa Sparks. Hilarious.

Whip It! is based on the Shauna Cross novel “Derby Girl”, the story of an indie-rock adoring rebel who comes to terms with her small-town background after finding a roller derby league in Austin, Texas. Sigh, this is so much like my real life.

Who are you looking forward to seeing in Whip It? Who would you cast to be a bad ass roller derby girl?
