Reject Update: Another ‘Enchanted’ Weekend at the Box Office
Posted by John Cairns (jcairns@filmschoolrejects.com) on December 2, 2007

It was yet another big weekend for Enchanted at the box office again, just as many people predicted. The Amy Adams flick too in a big $17 million this weekend for another number one finish, ahead of This Christmas, Beowulf, and then Awake, which died on the operating table with a $6 million take.
(You thought perhaps I might say Awake “fell asleep at the box office?” More like the audiences falling asleep, frankly. The critics all hated this movie, too.)
Anyway here are the numbers courtesy of Box Office Mojo for what was a slow, predictable weekend at theaters:
| Release | Studio Estimate |
| Enchanted | $17,023,000 |
| This Christmas | $8,400,000 |
| Beowulf | $7,882,000 |
| Awake | $6,011,000 |
| Hitman | $5,800,000 |
| Fred Claus | $5,500,000 |
| August Rush | $5,150,000 |
| No Country for Old Men | $4,501,000 |
| Bee Movie | $4,471,000 |
| American Gangster | $4,278,000 |
Not much more for me to add this weekend, the numbers pretty much speak for themselves. It’s very easy to figure out how the box office is going to finish when there aren’t that many new releases. Noticed that The Mist dropped out of the Top Ten already to $4.2 mil.
That’s all for this week’s box office results! See you all later this week for more of the Reject Report.
