Warner Bros. is developing a feature version of Yogi Bear, the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon with its mischievous, pic-a-nic basket-stealing star. Ash Brannon is attached to direct while Josua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia of That ’70s Show are penning the screenplay.

Most of us would be hard-pressed to name any great moments from The Huckleberry Hound Show without a little help from Wikipedia. That said, in 1958 its breakout star, Yogi, first appeared on the program as a supporting character and soon got his own cartoon in 1961. The Yogi Bear Show, surpassing Huckleberry in popularity, has continued to air frequently in reruns for the past half-century, and the feature project is now planned as an action/animation hybrid along the lines of Fox’s 2007 hit Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Accompanying Yogi to the big screen will be his reluctant sidekick, Boo Boo, and their nemesis, Ranger Smith.

Yogi was certainly a star in his day but whether this generation’s young audiences will warm to him remains to be seen.

Do you think Warner Bros. will make a hit? Or a just a big Boo Boo?

Well, well, well. Either Benicio Del Toro had a little trouble shaving this morning or we’ve got some actual pictures from the set of The Wolf Man.

These photos show Benicio and a rather Santa-esque Anthony Hopkins hard at work in England. if you’re feeling fed up with your job, take a look at the one where the poor P.A. is painting Karo Syrup on Benicio’s face. It’ll make you feel better.

Those bloody British.

Here is a first look from the project.

Here are some early stills from Paramount Picture’s 3-D, CG-animated The Smurfs. The feature is slated to appear in theaters November of 2008. Perhaps this film will answer some of the burning questions the NBC cartoon series left us with when it ended after 256 episodes. Questions like, “Did Baby Smurf finally reach adolescence, develop blue acne and try to find his real parents?” or “Will Smurfette, the only known female Smurf, EVER hook up with anyone?” Come on, girl – the odds are on your side!

We haven't been this excited about portaloos for a long time.

Heads up, fellow X-Men fans. The first photos of the sets for 20th Century Fox’s X-Men Origins: Wolverinehave been posted on Comingsoon.net. I haven’t been this excited since elementary school, when I traded with Kelly Mulligan for my first Wolverine Marvel Masterpiece comic card, ’92 Series.

Who feels me? Anyone?

Buildings for the “X-Men” spin-off are under construction in Queensboro and Deer Park Heights. The Deer Park Heights structure appears to be a log cabin overlooking lake Wakatipu. The crew has also been spotted erecting functional buildings such as a site office, security hut and those ever-charming portaloos. No word yet on whether they’re Royal Flushes or Scott’s Potts.

X-Men Origins: Wolverineis set to open on May 1st, 2009 and stars Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber. Gavin Hood directs.

Is it just me, or does the Queensboro building look like it could be made from Popsicle sticks? Oh well. I suppose everything can’t have an indestructible adamantium skeleton, can it? Take a look at the photos below:

It’s okay, folks – you can exhale and uncross your fingers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has closed all deals to reunite the original cast members of your favorite vice and mine, High School Musical, for its third installment.

The gang’s all back: Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and yes, even the freakishly pretty Zac Efron, are returning for High School Musical 3: Senior Year. The once unknown teenagers were shot to stardom with the unprecedented success of “High School Musical” in January of 2006, and it was uncertain whether Disney was going to pony up the extra cash that their little darlings were now demanding. But relax, all is well. The film is slated to premiere on October 24th, this time in theaters.

The threequel finds high school sweethearts Troy (Efron) and Gabriella (Hudgens) dealing with the possibility of separation as they head in different directions for college. I’m willing ot bet this will include a few laughs, a few tears, and more than a few musical numbers.

HSM3 was penned by Richard Barsocchini, writer of the first two telefilms, and director Kenny Ortega is also returning to make the reunion complete. HSM fans are now free to gleefully anticipate all of the puppy love, catchy ditties and saccharine sentiment that the Wildcats have provided in the past.

Because let’s face it – weren’t you a teeny bit worried?

Yeah, me neither.
